How to improve your Digestion

Drink hot water every morning to flush the bowels. Yes just hot water! Before your coffee or tea. This is a great way to tell your body good morning. Not only does it have a purifying effect but it is also hydrating and nourishing, warming the body.

Eat a 1/4 teaspoonful of agni deepena before each meal. This will stimulate digestive fire and create hunger. (1 inch of minced ginger, 1 lime squeezed, 1 tsp honey, 1tsp sea salt) Agni Deepana satisfies the 6 tastes: Sweet, Salty, Sour, Pungent, Bitter Astringent. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Keep the skin of the ginger on, as it completes the 6 tastes (bitter/astringent)

Agnisāra Dhauti - Fire Wash Breathe. Practice this technique every morning! This breathing exercise stimulates heat at the navel center which purifies the nadīs (energy channels) and stimulates the digestive system (circulation to the small and large intestines).

How to do it.......

Inhale, then exhale all the air. While holding the breathe out, pull the abdomen up and toward the backbone; release it suddenly.

Repeat this in-and-out movement rapidly as long as the breathe can be held with out strain. Then inhale gentle to complete. Start with 3 rounds and increase gradually to 10. Beginning with 30 pulls and eventually increasing to 60 in each breathe after you become familiar with the practice.

Eat easy to digest foods. Typically soups and cooked meals. Steamed or Roasted vegetables, rice and lentils, vegetable or bone broth with herbs and spices. Think about what you would feed a baby, something easy to chew and digest, soft and warm.
